The Mustard Seed House at Tenwek Hosts First Family Festival Outreach
On Friday, June 27th, 2025, the land for the future Mustard Seed House at Tenwek came to live with fun games, laughter and music during our inaugural Family Festival Gospel Outreach.
The event brought together more than 1,200 members of the local community, who learned about Jesus’ love for them throughout various festival stations.

Through the generous support of a visiting team from Purcellville Baptist Church (PBC) from Virginia, USA, the festival was designed as a Gospel-centered gift to the community, and especially for children and their parents to step away from their daily routines and simply enjoy one another’s company as they engage in a series of activities. They showed up in numbers with faces full of joy.
From the moment families walked in, they were welcomed by a vibrant and colorful scene full of Gospel-centered games and music. Children were at the heart of it all- dancing, praying, playing Bible bingo, making bracelets, coloring, bouncing, racing, tugging, and beaming with painted faces. Every moment was filled with laughter and creativity. The field was lively, full of fun, thanks to the PBC team that showed up effortlessly for the big day!
The festival featured several tents offering unique and meaningful experiences. In addition to games and crafts, a dedicated team of medics conducted a free health screening to ensure everyone was healthy. In the prayer tent, guests had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with our ministry team, and several individuals gave their lives to Christ, while others committed to renew their relationship with God.
I came here as a hopeless man, but in the prayer tent, I encountered the love of Christ in a way I had not felt in years. As a young father who is jobless and struggling to provide for my wife and son, you reminded me that Christ still shows up, even when I want to give up. I am going home with renewed hope.
– Jason (name changed for privacy), a 27-year-old father

We are on a break from school, and this has been the best day ever. I have had fun all day. I have engaged in activities I have never seen before. Look at my face, I got it painted! My mom was here the whole day watching me play. I can’t wait for the next one.
– 12-year-old Arnold
Parents were not left out of the festivities. In-fact, one of the highlights of the day was parents’ tug of war competition, where mothers and fathers faced off in the friendly game that created both competition and family connection (And the mothers won!).
When I heard about this event three days ago, I told my husband and kids – ‘We are going!’ We played, we prayed, and we ate together. This was really fun, we need more of this for our families to build unity and grow in our relationship with God.
– Sarah, a 35-year-old mother
As the sun began to set on this very joyous day, gentle rains fell over the festival – seen by the local community as a sign of God’s blessing. Parents were beaming with laughter and words of gratitude. Children left the outreach with smiles on their painted faces, a scoop of ice cream in their hands, and the Gospel on their hearts.
